Hate is a very strong word, yet it still doesn't come close to how much I abhor the argeela, an Arabic water pipe. It's a large, glass, glorified cigarette. It's disgusting and ridiculously unhealthy. The charcoal used to light it up smells atrocious. It burns holes in carpets, sofas, and clothes. I despise smoking. Blech.
The morning after my engagement party, these were all lined up outside. I wanted to smash them with a baseball bat. |
I don't understand the love of the hookah either. It's worse than cigarette smoking, but I've heard Arab & others who would call cigarettes haraam say that they are ok. I mean...what?? (Hookah bars are for some reason popular in my small college town. I think it's a way for the bar to get around the no smoking ordinances).
ReplyDeleteYeh. Let's get together and smash them all.
Honestly, I really love the smell! There's nothing like walking past arab restaurants and getting a wiff of all the fruity flavours.
ReplyDeleteAs far as smoking it though, I have tried it before but I really don't understand what the fuss is about - it isn't very nice and does nothing but pollute our bodies.
Nice picture though :)
@Pam - Seriously, I don't get the hype.
ReplyDelete@Esra - I want the scent of perfectly seasoned kebob on the grill!
I am joining the club too. At least u guys aren't stuck at home with one! At least he men of the house only keep it in the basement, actually listening to one thing if ever said. I would totally break one and make it look like an accident, then in few hours a new one is brought home.
ReplyDeleteUr right about the charcoal smell too! That makes me nauseous
